OptionShop is changing the way sophisticated securities are traded online, combining ease-of-use and accessibility with the professional features and support required for success. We are rapidly approaching the launch of our flagship product, and we’re enlisting the help of the best and brightest to join the fun.
We’re small at the moment, but we’re also fortunate to have dedicated investors — so we don’t skimp on amenities. We work in a newly renovated office overlooking the ‘L’ in the heart of Chicago’s financial district. (Don’t worry, we have soundproof windows.) Because we’re a small team, you can expect an informal environment, and a diverse set of challenges.
These challenges will range from scalability and performance optimizations to novel user interaction design. There’s a lot of work to be done, and we’re deliberately hiring slowly in this early stage. We think these factors will make for a unique opportunity that offers a lot of freedom and excitement.
First and foremost we’re looking for a great developer and a good cultural fit. Our ideal team member will work well both independently and as part of a team, and provide fresh ideas in addition to code. We’re also looking for someone passionate about technology, but who can keep their ego in check. We prefer candidates with at least 3 years of work experience and a formal education in computer science or similar.
Proficiency in particular technologies is secondary to us, but experience with the following is a plus:
- Object-oriented and functional programming concepts
- Managed programming languages like C#, Scala or Java
- Scripting languages like Python or Ruby
- Web technologies like http, html, css and javascript
- Relational or NoSQL databases
We offer competitive compensation and benefits, including stock options, medical, dental, and free daily lunch.
