UpSprung: Senior Ruby on Rails Developer

UpSprung is in search of a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer. We’re attempting to blend the world of commerce, marketing and media. We offer a major opportunity with many currently unsolved problems and that’s why we’re looking for you to play an important role in the product’s development.  We’re passionate about the product’s vision and we are looking for team members that may share that. The ideal candidate would have a strong product vision and the ability to implement solutions in Ruby or any other weapon of choice.

Skills & Requirements

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and MVC paradigms.
• Cross-functional. You should be at least comfortable with both server-side and client-side work.
• Experience interacting with third-party APIs & web services.
• Demonstrated familiarity & application of open-source tools. Being a project maintainer is a big sell.
• Knows his or her way around Rails but also any or all of the following: Git, HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, node.js, AWS, EC2, Unix, MySQL and NoSQL.
• Is passionate about all things mobile, web, and social.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor junior team members
• Develop new platform components from concept to deployment
• Help decide long-term product strategy and feature prioritization.
• Constantly learn new technologies and obsess about ways make things faster and cleaner
• Write code (really)

Bonus Points

• E-commerce background, particularly an understanding of payment processing, transaction security, and data management.
• Experience building and scaling a Saas application
• Has existing open-source contributions under his or her belt.
• Prior startup life, because you appreciate the IKEA desks and autonomy to solve crazy hard problems
• Will mesh seamlessly with our team. Culture is a top priority for us. This means you should be amazing... and a little bit insane. A great sense of humor is a plus.
• A familiarity with the Agile process
