Food Services Assistant Manager

AIB College of Business 2500 Fleur Drive Des Moines, Iowa 50321 Position Title: Food Services Assistant Manager Summary of Position: Under direct supervision of the Food Services Manager, the Assistant is responsible for assisting with coordination of all functions of Food Service. Day to day functions will include assisting with the overall functions of the food service operation including; preparation, serving, operating cash register, clean-up and any other tasks as determined by the Food Services Manager. Essential Functions: Maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, students, co-workers and administration. Ensure positive customer relations including listening to feedback from students and employees on improving food and/or service. Ability to prepare and sell food using the grill, oven, stove, fryer, dishwasher, cash register, etc. Assist with catering of on/off campus events including food preparation, delivery, set-up and clean-up when necessary. Ensure that all safety, sanitation and security measures are followed. Supervise kitchen staff in the absence of the Food Services Manager. Assist in the cleaning of the dining and kitchen areas as directed. Operate dishwasher, clean and put away dishes and utensils. Ensures that all safety, sanitation, and security measures are followed. Perform other duties as assigned. Working hours: Minimum of 32 hours per week. Mon- Thur. 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (hours flex as needed based on seasonality of diner and possible evening and weekend hours based on catering services needed.) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: High school diploma or equivalent required; food services experience preferred. Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills required. Ability to operate kitchen/food service equipment and tools. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of food services processes, and food services equipment/tools. Must possess high-level of culinary service aptitude. Must possess high-level of oral and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate capacity for being proactive in maintaining an attractive Food Services environment. Must be open to and adaptable to change and willing to flex to other departments during times when Food Service is closed. Must work cooperatively and respectfully with all parties concerned. Ability to work independently with little supervision; yet be team-oriented. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition and subtraction) Ability to operate standard office equipment and personal computer, cash register, and 10-key pad.
