The Vacancy
We have a vacancy for a Ruby developer to join our in-house development team working on one of the UK's largest Rails sites.
Who We Are
On the Beach Holidays are one of the largest online travel agent's in the UK. We carry over 750,000 passengers every year, serve 2.1 million unique visitors a month with roughly 21.5 million page views.
We're based in South Manchester, a short train ride from the centre of town and are regulars at our local RUG.
Who We're Looking For
You'll need to be a passionate Ruby developer with at least one years commercial experience, confident in using SOLID OO design principles in a test driven manner. We mostly use the following tech so experience would be beneficial:
- Ruby on Rails (obviously)
- Rspec and Spinach for testing
- MySQL, Redis and MongoDB
- Git (including Github, we use Github Enterprise internally)
- Javascript, jQuery, progressive enhancement and solid front end skills.
- Linux and Mac OS X administration, including confident command line fu
As part of the team behind one of the UK's biggest online travel agents, you'll be developing, improving and scaling high traffic web applications in a creative and agile environment. You'll get to use the latest technologies to solve challenging and unique problems, and deploy your code directly into the hands of millions of users.
You'll need an eye for detail and be keen to provide our customers the best user experience of any travel site. You'll also have experience of working collaboratively in an agile team using pair-programming and TDD.
