America’s Job Link Alliance – Technical Support (AJLA-TS), a nationwide leader in workforce development systems, is currently hiring for a web application developer position.  AJLA-TS,  is the technical support arm of America’s Job Link Alliance (AJLA) a consortium of state agencies and program operators. The Alliance was formed in 2001 with the goal of designing an affordable information management system to support the operations of one-stop workforce development centers. Through collaboration, member states reduced the cost and risks of developing software to meet the challenges posed by the passage of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).

AJLA-TS is a branch of the Kansas Department of Commerce.  As state employees, AJLA-TS staff members are eligible for the full range of benefits including KPERS retirement, health care, dental care, life insurance, paid vacations and holidays.

  Responsibilities:
  • Provide input and opinions on architecture and iterative architectural changes and be part of the final decision process
  • Turn defined architectural designs into working components
  • Review and propose optimization on peer code
  • Perform proper unit testing
  • Perform proper integration testing

Desired Skills & Experience
Must Have the Following Personal Characteristics
  • Have proven experience using object oriented programming principles
  • Learn new information and applications quickly
  • Possess excellent written communication skills
  • Have proven success working independently while operating in a team environment
  • Experience developing and modifying application software

Required Technical Skills
  • BS in Computer Science or related degree
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Expertise on web development with ASP.NET MVC, MS SQL Server 2008, C#, Ruby on Rails and jQuery. Certifications are a plus.
 
Preferred Skills (not required):
  • 2 years of experience with ASP.NET MVC in designing and developing new application.  Experience with deployment of newly developed applications a plus.
