SideTour is looking for a Senior Rails Developer. This an amazing opportunity to be part of the early engineering team at one of New York’s most promising startups. You’ll have the chance to contribute to the next version of our product from the ground-up and shape the growth of the emerging peer-to-peer experiences and activities market.
Here’s what the right person looks like:
- You have strong Rails expertise. Like, really strong.
- You thrive on creating elegant, efficient code yet still have a strong passion for product design.
- You have experience working in ecommerce and have a great understanding of payment processing, transaction security, and data management/reporting.
- You’re serious about testing. You usually write tests before you write code. You’re as passionate about writing good tests as you are about writing good code.
- You thrive in an agile environment. You’re accustomed to working off a card wall or with software like Pivotal Tracker or Trello and you wouldn’t have it any other way. You know how to suggest time-saving changes to the product team and present alternatives to help guide more efficient development.
- You’re eager not just to implement code, but also to work tightly with the company co-founders and help decide long-term product strategy, feature prioritization, etc. We’re looking for input just as much as we want output.
- You have a history of building things just for the fun of it. You’ve worked on consumer-facing apps and projects, have probably participated in hackathons, and maybe have a few articles or a blog about tech under your belt.
- Experience or willingness to try and learn pair programming is a huge plus. We probably won’t pair 100% of the time, but we’ll do it as often as we need to.
- Maybe you have a degree in Computer Science, maybe you don’t. But there is no question you’re an expert.
We’re strong devotees to the Lean Startup methodology. Our current product has been all about validating our market and collecting user feedback. Now we’re ready to build a world-class technology platform. And you could be one of the first people hired to build it. If that sounds like something you’re ready for, apply below.
TL;DR - Like BDD? Like agile? Like pairing? Come work for us.
