General Description

        This position reports directly to Director of Software Development and is responsible for all the front-end development of viddler.com and its sub-sites. This position also has direct ties to our back-end developers all of whom must work in unison to effectively communicate and complete tasks.

        This position is also responsible for updating/maintaining documents concerning front-end development process and deployment.

Requirements

•     Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery
•     Expert knowledge of Ruby and Ruby on Rails
•     Proficient knowledge of SASS, Compass and CoffeeScript
•     Proficient knowledge of PHP
•     Ability to read and comprehend a technical specification
•     Proficient with terminal and systems related setups and issues
•     Expert knowledge of cache and caching systems
•     Ability to create a scalable codebase and comprehend/update existing codebase
•     Excellent knowledge of Git for source control
•     Excellent written communication skills

Responsibilities

•     Create/update codebase to meet specs provided
•     Work with other development and design staff to perfect viddler.com’s workflow and usability.
•     Approve and/or give constructive criticism to others code committed
•     Fix any bugs in the front-end codebase when applicable.
•     Help document front-end workflows and deployments
•     Recommend improvements to usability, reliability and scalability of sites.
•     Help set up performance suites with back-end/systems teams for testing

    

Communicate:

•     Technical issues with the appropriate developer
•     Design related issues with the appropriate designer
•     Overall usability issues with management staff
