This is a project position with an esimtated length of 18 months.
This position can be located in either Bristol, CT or Bangalore, India.
 
Responsibilitie:
The Software Engineer II will be responsible for managing the development and maintenance of ESPN mobile applications on the Windows Phone 7 platform. The position requires an individual with the ability to work with a development team and ensure that ESPN standards of software quality are met. The position will also require significant hands-on development activities.
 
Qualifications:
Minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience and technically proficient in the following:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in .NET, managed code and C#/C++ programming languages
• Familiar with networking infrastructures and protocols including HTTP, SSL, SMTP, TCP/IP
• Experience with web technologies such as: WCF, IIS, REST, XML, ASP.NET
• Strong communication skills
• Experience collaborating and working with vendor development partners
• General understanding of MS Windows Phone Metro UI design principles, and familiarity with WP application approval process
• Experience in full life-cycle software development and the ability to work on multiple projects and deliver on time according to project schedules.
• Sound understanding of HTTP and how clients interact with REST-style web services.
• Applicants must be able to work both individually and in a team environment to achieve results in a deadline driven environment.
• Possess the strong ability or experience disseminating technical requirements and issues to a business and editorially-focused audience.
• Individual must be a self-starter that can drive projects forward with minimal management oversight.
• Must love sport and be willing to work (occasional) unsociable hours. • A strong sense of drive, ownership, passion and a commitment to the user experience Strong customer focus.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prefer candidates with experience in designing and implementing code for high-scale services.
• Experience with JavaScript, AJAX, and HTML5 is strongly desired.
• The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding/experience of OO programming, preferably on Microsoft platform.
• The individual should have a passion for technology and change in the online environment.
