CX is a cloud storage and data file management system that provides users with a secure, stable, scalable platform to backup, synchronize, share, and manage their documents, photos, music, and videos across all of their devices - which includes desktops, laptops, netbooks, and mobile devices.
Do you have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a solid background in systems administration? CX, Inc. is currently seeking to expand our Systems Administration / DevOps team.
Anticipated responsibilities are:
- Participate in designing/architecting infrastructure and systems to meet needs.
- Perform DevOps style duties to assist with installation, management and maintenance of systems and infrastructure as well as optimize an automation of the release processes from development to staging/test to production.
- Administer linux systems and network devices in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment (or other virtual hosting environment).
- Use automated systems administration/management tools like Chef.
- Command Line Fu and Scripting in shell languages as well as Ruby/Python/PERL.
- Work with extremely high scalability environments moving large volumes of data with high requirements for availability and security.
- A small amount of travel to meet with other team members in our distributed locations (<10%).
- Shared duties for incident response (Tier 3 style) during business and off-hours on a rotating basis.
- Work in a secure and trusted environment. Background and reference checks will be performed. Clean records are required.
Qualifications include:
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently under pressure.
- A combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge may be acquired.
- A solid understanding of Linux Systems administration.
- An understanding of MySQL server administration (installation, tuning).
- Experience (if possible) with other data storage system including Hadoop, Mongo, Couch, Redis, Memcache, etc.
- A solid understanding of protocols and services like HTTP/REST, SSH, SMTP, DNS.
- Experience working with developers and testers and assisting with or managing a release process.
- Strong skills in shell scripting.
- Capacity to envision new technical solutions based on business needs.
- Experience with Ruby.
- Ability to understand and clearly explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Calm and grace under fire. Must be personable, diligent, and responsible.
- Experience with MySQL / Percona.
- Skills in Puppet, Chef, or Bcfg2 (Chef preferred).
- Knowledge of Amazon AWS including S3, EC2, and other services.
- A curiosity and love for problem solving.
- Participation in Internet Culture (lives on the web, MMORPG Gamer).
- Strong team player attitude with the confidence to work independently.
