Join The Melt as Senior Web Architect and manage a wide range of web architectures with particular specialization in Ruby on Rails.

Fish Six Restaurant Corporation DBA “The Melt” is a newly formed San Francisco based restaurant company whose founder is successful technology entrepreneur and Flip founder Jonathan Kaplan.  We need your help in executing our fast casual concept.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

•      Manage the technical direction of a small team of web developers in the development and maintenance of several web properties. At any given time you'll need to focus on two or three of these properties as specific development projects

◦       Desktop web site

◦       Mobile web site

◦       In-store systems

◦       POS middleware administration site

◦       Systems dashboard (new project)

•      Design, document, and maintain technical architecture for our web systems

•      Maintain and execute an ongoing performance plan for our web systems

•      Security and PCI compliance. While you will not be directly responsible for our overall security and PCI compliance plan, you will be required to maintain compliance as it pertains to your team and projects

•      Agile project management. In coordination with our project management team, you'll be responsible for managing an agile development process for each project

•      Testing, QA. In coordination with our QA manager, develop and execute test plans on a per project basis

•      Hosting and deployment. In coordination with our dev ops, make decisions on deployment and hosting of our web systems

•      Development. You should expect to get your hands dirty with some actual coding in support of the team and project

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

•      Minimum B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent

•      5 years web architecture

•      3 years managing software development teams of 5 or more

•      3 years Ruby on Rails

◦       HTML5

◦       HAML/Jade

◦       CSS3/SASS

◦       jQuery, backbone.js, underscore.js

◦       SQL-based DBs such as MySQL

•      1+ years with node.js

◦       express.js

◦       CoffeeScript

•      Unit testing tools such as Rspec, Mocha, JUnit, NUnit

•      Experience with .Net, C#, Windows application programming

•      Hosting and deployment of web architectures

◦       AWS

◦       EngineYard

◦       Chef

◦       Nginx

◦       Passenger, Thin

•      Bug tracking such as Jira or Trac

•      Source control such as Git/Github

•      Design of REST APIs

•      OO design and analysis

•      Agile development processes

•      Experience integrating with Windows-based software

•      Experience architecting scalable systems with distributed processing

•      Experience working with startups

 

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•      PCI compliance

•      Alternate web architectures, specifically Java/Scala architectures

•      Familiarity with SOAP APIs

•      POS experience

•      Experience working in multi-unit retail businesses such as restaurant and retail chains

•      Experience working with food service and soft goods
